What is StoryFest?
StoryFest is a new annual storytelling festival to be held from 21st-23rd June 2019 in the Milton-Mollymook-Ulladulla area.
Friday June 21 promises to be a very special opening day with a creative writing workshop lead by one of Australia’s foremost writers of fiction, and coincidentally, one of our best writing teachers. Alternatively there will be an illustration workshop with a renowned illustrator of 12 children’s books. In the evening, there is a choice between two events. Milton Theatre will host a session for all the fans of crime fiction. While at Tallwood Eatery, enjoy a delicious meal and meet two bestselling authors of historical fiction as they discuss what inspires their writing.
The main festival day will be jam packed with 15 sessions held over 4 venues, including fiction, non-fiction and children’s events and encompassing storytelling through various forms. Throughout the day, the Village Green will be the central hub with music, food and market stalls. Saturday night will offer the choice between the special gala dinner with a celebrity guest at Cupitt’s Winery or a film night with the film producer at Milton Theatre.
The festival will conclude on Sunday with more workshops or visitors can spend the day enjoying all the area has to offer.
Pre-festival events include our Storytelling competition, which is open to all Shoalhaven residents and has student and adult categories. The Schools Program runs the week leading up to the festival. It includes multiple events for students attending our local preschools, primary and high schools.
