Storytelling Competition 2023 Winners!

Our theme this year was “Inhale” and entrants were clearly inspired by it. Top quality entries were received in all three categories – Primary School; Secondary School and Open Age. The volunteer experts who took part in our judging panels expressed their delight at the diversity of approaches writers took and were impressed with the strength authors managed to achieve in stories so brief in length.

And the winners are:

Primary School

  • First Prize: Lifeline by Willow Ferguson, Milton Public School

  • Second Prize: AFL Training by William Faulconer, Milton Public School

  • Honourable Mention: The Smell of Outside by Matilda Schultz

  • Honourable Mention: Take a Deep Breath and Inhale by Yazmin Simshauser

Secondary School

  • First Prize: Giants are not what they think they are by Rowan Faulconer, Ulladulla High

  • Second Prize: Water by Jasper Riddick, Ulladulla High

  • Third Prize: Inhale by Faith Nevin, Ulladulla High

  • Honourable Mention: The Jetty by Jordan Magi, Ulladulla High

  • Honourable Mention: Allure by Halle West, Ulladulla High

  • Honourable Mention: Panic by Melody Rothey, Ulladulla High

Open AGE Category

  • First Prize: Haze by Chris Maher

  • Second Prize: Not Quite Nostalgic by T.J. Edwards

  • Third Prize: Liquid Valium by Lynn Gay
