Philip Williams

2

Philip Williams began his career at ABC Canberra 48 years ago. Before his retirement last year he was the ABC’s chief foreign correspondent traveling to major assignments around the world. He was also the ABC’s bureau chief in London for many years covering wars, insurrections, revolutions, political upheavals and natural disasters. His last assignment was reporting on the Queen's death from London. While his coverage of wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Georgia and Israel and terrorism attacks in London, Madrid, Paris and Russia may have attracted the most attention, Philip considers his greatest achievement has been his three children and an incredibly tolerant wife. He's not yet reached for the pipe and slippers in retirement and is kept more than busy helping to run a vineyard, herd of cattle and visitors to the family farm just outside Canberra.
